The Horizontal to Vertical Spectral Ratio technique is a widespread tool for the study of ground motion amplification. It applies to a wide range of ground motion amplitude, from microtremor to strong motion. Sometimes it becomes a mandatory choice, when there is no available outcrop for the Reference Site technique and a borehole is unfeasible.
